18th Century Oak Welsh Dresser

18th Century Oak Welsh Dresser

£1,800.00

A wonderful c.1740 Oak Welsh two part dresser, likely from the Denbighshire area in North Wales. The top section with moulded cornice above three fixed shelves sits on a base fitted with three long drawers above another smaller central drawer and three ogee arched fielded panel cupboard doors, flanked by unusual pointed arch flush panels. Brass swan neck and droplet handles. Condition is rather good for its age, some restoration has taken place, particularly to the lower bracket ‘feet’ of the open shelf section but seem secure. There is a two plank top to the dresser base itself, the planks have separated over time, along with other splits and knocks commensurate with age and use as should be typically expected. The drawers operate smoothly, as do the cupboard doors, one slightly ‘sticks’, but overall not an issue. Retains its original panelled back and is super piece of history.
